If you listen to the news media, you would think that anybody that had to acquire his own health insurance, was basically destined for financial ruin.

Not so, if you start shopping around. I already had a health insurance policy, that at $180 a month was quite burdensome.

Along comes my friend Karl Schumacher, who also is a Board member of the Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce. Karl was able to save me about $60 a month on health insurance, and also provided me some good advice on starting up a Health Savings Account.

Our parents had to provide health coverage for themselves. Our generation considers it an entitlement and is not used to shopping around for the best deal.

As for me, I like the freedom that selecting and paying for my own health insurance gives me. If you get into that same position, give Karl a call!
