Gordon Hall Days: A Country Fair
Event Date: TBD
The Annual Gordon Hall Days: A Country Fair will be held on Saturday, June 17th and Sunday June 18th from 10 to 5 both days. Spend some time on Father’s Day weekend at an old-time country fair. Both days we offer guided tours of historic Gordon Hall, midway games for kids of all ages, photo ops with vintage costumes and an antique car, and Lil Conductor Train rides. Also both days, the Dexter Lions will be onsite with their food wagon. In addition, there will be a snack area with popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones. On Saturday only, the Michigan Pedal Pullers will host mini-tractor pulls, ReMax will have their walk-in, cold air balloon, and the Dexter Dulcimers will play. On Sunday only we welcome Colors the Clown’s interactive animal-based magic show, the Kids Music Emporium, the North Creek Fiddlers, and our famous Pie Auction. Also on Saturday: “Tea With Style” – Saturday June 17 at 1:00 pm. Donation $10. Several survivors of the Titanic, wearing fashions of the time, will be attending. They will sport daywear featured in the best French fashion magazines and evening wear that might have been seen on the great ship. The fashions are from the extensive and historically accurate collection of Helen Welford. Bring your mom or your best friends, or plan to pass the afternoon with a new acquaintance while you sip hot or iced tea and enjoy dessert. Reservations are required as space is limited; please call Ina Germain at 734-395-4106.
Saturday Night: A Country Dance at Gordon Hall - Saturday June 17 at 7:00 pm. Robin Warner will lead us in dances that were popular at the turn of the 19th to 20th century and that are beginner/family friendly, interesting, and fun. The “Country Fair Players” will provide live music. Hearty appetizers, desserts, and drinks will complete the experience. Tickets for this fundraiser to support the Dexter Area Historical Society are $50 per person or $125 per family with children ages 12 and older. Reservations are necessary as space is limited; call Ina Germain at 734-395-4106.

Plein Air Festival
Event Date: August, 2018
For the 4th year in a row, under the curious and watchful eye of the public, local and visiting artists will paint for four days in and around Dexter.
The festival culminates with a two-day exhibit and silent auction of all competition artwork in the Tent Gallery in Monument Park.
Activities include a friendly competition for professional and emerging artists, a quick-draw painting competition, a NEW Professional Artist Small Works Exhibit, a silent auction and artwork sale, and other events that will be arranged and announced on the Schedule of Events.

Every year The Dexter Lions Club sponsors Apple Daze in celebration of one of Michigan's most famous products. Come down to Monument Park and try delicious food, music and more!

Dexter After Dark
Event Date: December, 2018
On select evenings at dusk, Downtown Dexter comes alive to offer the community one-of-a kind shop and dine deals, prizes and retail specials. From pubs and restaurants to boutique shops and home stores, select retail establishments will be open from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM offering one-day-only sales specials and giveaways. Restaurants will be open until closing. Participating stores and restaurants will be marked with special white balloons. Come out and be a part of the delightful Downtown Dexter scene!

Holiday Hustle 5K

Naughty or nice, walker or runner, come breathe in the December night air, BURN A FEW HOLIDAY CALORIES and give back to others. A silly, hilly out and back course that will take in the neighborhood light displays and give you a chance to see the flashing gang ahead or behind you!

A Whimsical Evening at Gordon Hall
The opening event for Christmas at the Mansion, “A Whimsical Evening at Gordon Hall”. Spirits, hearty hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be served at Gordon Hall, beautifully decorated for the holidays by area businesses and Historical Society supporters. Milt Campbell’s extensive and magical Christmas Village collection will once more be displayed throughout the mansion. Tickets for the event are $65 per person with a 100 person limit. They can be purchased at the DHSM website dexterhistory.org or by contacting Ina Germain at 734-395-4106.
Holiday Bazaar at the Museum
Looking for a special gift that you won’t find in any store? Come to the 2018 Holiday Bazaar at the Dexter Area Museum. The Dexter Heritage Guild will have handcrafted holiday decorations, wreaths, unique teacher gifts, hand-knit apparel, toys, gifts for pets, and the Guild’s signature scrubbies. Be sure to pick up something delicious from the bake sale, both baked treats and canned goods; and buy a drawing ticket to win a double-sized Memory Lane quilt, a Christmas Goose pillow, or a Paul Cousins torte. The Museum’s Corner Gift Shop will be open with their own unique treasures. All proceeds benefit the Museum located at 3443 Inverness Street, Dexter. Christmas at the Mansion
A Family Tradition at Gordon Hall. This year featuring the Christmas Village Collection, a magical display of Milt Campbell’s huge collection of Department 56 villages. This collection was traditionally seen in the windows of Huron Camera in downtown Dexter throughout the holiday season, and was a favorite destination for families. After a visit with Santa, children can make a gingerbread house to take home. Presented by the Dexter Area Historical Society. Suggested donation $5/person. If Teapots Could Talk
A Christmas Tea. Bring your mom or your best friends, or plan to pass the afternoon with a new acquaintance while you sip tea served with a light lunch and dessert. The event will feature a self-guided tour of historic Gordon Hall and of the magical Christmas Village Collection, traditionally seen in the windows of Huron Camera in downtown Dexter throughout the holiday season, and on display at Gordon Hall this year.
